A product's life doesn't have to end when its first use is over. Metal, plastic, paper, and electronics can all go back into production instead of into the ground, and that loop is what a scrap marketplace actually exists to close.
A linear economy takes raw material, makes a product, and throws it away. A circular economy takes the same material and puts it back into production instead, no landfill, no fresh ore or virgin feedstock needed for the next round.

That's five material categories, not one. Sourcing or offloading multiple streams from the same operation doesn't mean finding a separate buyer for each.
Scrap steel gets remelted into new steel. Scrap aluminium gets remelted into new aluminium. Recovered plastics get reprocessed into new plastic products. Recovered paper fibre gets pulped into new paper. The specific process differs, but the loop, use, recover, reprocess, reuse, is the same idea across every category ScrapTrade lists.
For metals specifically, the numbers are well documented: recycled steel and aluminium use dramatically less energy and raw ore than starting from virgin material, covered in detail in our environmental impact guide. The same underlying logic, less new raw material extracted per unit of output, carries over to paper (less virgin timber pulp) and plastics (less virgin petrochemical feedstock), even where the specific figures differ by material.

Materials like glass, textiles, or organic waste aren't listed categories today. "Far more than just metal" is the accurate claim, not "anything."
